Back at the Tokyo Game Show we heard news from Square Enix that Final Fantasy X was going to be a remake for the PlayStation Vita and the PlayStation 3.

At the recent Taipei Game Show, Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto answered questions from fans about the Final Fantasy series, including confirming that the upcoming remake is fact a remaster. The primary difference is that the game will remain 100% intact, except for graphics enhancements. He said that, “The screen is much prettier than the original.”

Considering the gorgeous OLED screen of the Vita and the high graphics output of the PS3 I have no doubt it will look better than the original PS2 game. The game was originally released back in 2001 and marked the transition of the series from pre-rendered backdrops to fully three-dimensional areas.

It will be interesting to see what they do with the development of the game and if there will be crossover components between the Vita and the PS3. Fun fact, Final Fantasy X was the first in the series to feature voice acting and was the first to get a direct sequel.

I don’t have any more info but as soon as we see some footage, get some screen shots or any other details we’ll bring them to you here on Clevver Games. What do you guys think about this news? Glad it is just a remaster not a remake? Or is there things in the game you would like to see changed? Let me know in the comments below.
